Base Mix Ingredients: Birdfood Components for Carp Bait
For bait manufacturers, building a reliable base mix is about consistency, ingredient performance, and repeatable results. Selecting the right natural birdfood components allows you to achieve nutritional balance, structural integrity, and attraction without unnecessary complexity.
At a fundamental level, an effective base mix should deliver digestible protein, usable energy, vitamins, minerals, and structure - all while remaining workable at scale. Haith’s birdfood ingredients are designed to support these requirements.
Robin Red® RR-EU
Typical inclusion: 10–15%
Robin Red RR-EU is a fully natural colour food suitable for base mixes, groundbaits, and stick mixes. It imparts a consistent deep red colour using naturally occurring pigments, without synthetic colour agents.
Its spicy profile integrates cleanly into red fishmeal or seed-based recipes, supporting both short-term attraction and longer-term bait performance.
Practical note: the natural pigments can stain plastic
containers.
Nectarblend
Typical inclusion: up to 70%
Supplied ready to use or can be ground as required.
Nectarblend is widely used in boilie, groundbait, and method mix production. It offers binding performance, energy content, and structural contribution to the finished bait.
Available in UK and EU (FF) formulations, both
designed to deliver consistent handling, nutrition, and attraction within birdfood-based recipes.
Red Factor
Typical inclusion: up to 70%
Red Factor is a proven colour food with excellent digestibility. It performs well alongside high-quality protein sources and is cost-effective for large-scale bait production.
Its coarse structure allows rapid water penetration, making it suitable for both immediate attraction and longer-term feeding applications.
Practical Notes
- Combining Nectarblend with Robin Red, Robin Green, or Red Factor provides a stable, attractive, and nutritionally balanced base mix.
- Coarse components promote rapid water exchange, helping attractant and flavour disperse efficiently.
- Ingredients can be blended with seeds, groats, or small boilies to adjust texture, nutrient release, and visual presentation.
